Just got back from my friend’s memorial, I never felt more humble to know a person then on this day. I wrote the following before I went so here it is:
“Deep inside, I am pissed off at Jared. But deeper down inside, I am sadden at the fact that the world lost someone great. My good friend took his life last week and I truly sympathize with his friends and family. In life, you don’t need many friends. Just a few that care. And Jared was definitely one of those friends that cared for me. And it was a mutual friendship. We played sports together. Laughed together. Played chess and more importantly, created a friendship together. I finally understand Maya Angelou and her idea stating that people may forget what you say or what you do, but they can’t never forget the way you make them feel…”
I actually gave an impromptu speech during his memorial and had several adults come up to me after saying good job on my speech. I was very proud to meet the people Jared knew in his life and even more proud to know him.
